Lioba Brückner, born in 1988 in Oberhausen, Germany, is a contemporary artist and illustrator known for combining fantasy imagery with historical and decorative influences. Her work draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian murals, symbolism, and the ornamental richness associated with artists such as Gustav Klimt.
Originally trained through years of oil painting, Lioba has developed a distinctive mixed-media approach that combines watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic, and other traditional materials. Her detailed compositions are characterized by expressive figures, rich textures, and a strong narrative quality.
Alongside her personal fine art practice, Lioba works professionally as a book cover illustrator and has created cover artwork and special-edition illustrations for publishing projects for Simon & Fischer and Penguin Random House. Her interest in storytelling and atmospheric character-driven imagery makes book illustration a natural extension of her artistic work.
In 2024, Lioba co-founded Studio Eclipse, an international art auction collective bringing together contemporary and avant-garde artists from around the world. Through Studio Eclipse, she also connects directly with collectors while continuing to develop both her personal artwork and professional illustration projects.
Lioba also shares her passion through education, teaching over 400 students on PaintWithLioba.com and now connects directly with her collectors online, having built a loyal following through social media and her website. This direct relationship allows her to focus on her art while ensuring a personalized experience for her collectors, reflecting her commitment to her craft and audience
